When I arrived at the course with two doggies I told the pro I had Mia the rookie with me and I would like to go out on my own so I could acclimatize Mia to the game without disturbing any other golfers. However, another fellow I knew was there on his own and he was willing to to join my threesome. The introduction to the golf went quite smoothly. Mia pretty much followed Maya's lead. Here they are on the 4th fairway after having just chased a few geese back into the pond. When not chasing geese there is a lot of sniffing going on. Sort like keeping up on current events.
Besides chasing geese I am trying to get M&M to find my ball for me. After my drive on the 7th hole they both spotted my ball very quickly as I was walking up to it. Yes, it is right in the middle on the short grass so that one was easy. Next step will be finding my ball in the rare event that I hit it into the brush!
It was a beautiful day and the doggies were both very well behaved. Unfortunately they only had to chase geese twice but they did the job well.
Our course resevoir offers the geese a safe haven but they certainly took the two doggies very seriously and headed for the middle of the lake as far away from the dogs as possible.
After all the running, sniffing, chasing on a warmish day the hounds decided some rest would by in order. By the eighth hole they would find a nice place to lay down while I prepared to hit my shot.
Here they are in the shade waiting patiently for my next move. Overall they did really well and Bruce, who was my playing partner said they were the best behaved dogs he had ever seen. I was very proud of them.
Of course being the 'sucks' that they are (you can sure tell they are sisters on this trait alone) they got lots of attention in the form of pats and belly rubs when I was in the locker room with them. And of course they hustled into the pro shop with little bums a'wiggling to give the pro a chance to give them his pats. A very rewarding 90 minute lunch break - doggies had a great exercise outting and I got my exercise in the sunshine too. I went back to do some more work in the cottages while the dogs layed in the shade around the resort and dreamed of chasing geese.
