Because the road is pretty much like a lane what little traffic we have moves at a pretty slow pace so it is quite pleasant to meander along without a leash. Mia is slowly learning to come back and sit beside me whenever she hears a car. Maya is already well acclimatized this routine and I 'release' them once the car is past.
There are a number of trails that lead off of the road into the woods. We occassionally will leave the road and take a 'cross country' route through the woods and follow the deer trails. With any luck we will find our way home again.
Near the west end of OSR one of the families built a nice bench around a tree along the side of the road. The girls decided they would have a rest there. I must say they are both getting acustomed to posing for all the pictures I have been taking.
And finally after our long stroll with a few detours (for me to take some scenic pics and for the girls to chase some quail and deer) we arrive back at our driveway for the short climb back to our house. The girls are anxious to get home for a good drink of water and a dish full of dinner kibble with a little salmon skin. They quickly lead me up the hill and into the house.
