We had a full house at the resort over the Easter weekend so our days after the checkouts are pretty busy with cleaning all the cottages and getting them reset for the next arrivals. At this time of year we usually have 3-4 days between guest departures and arrivals so Cathie and I pretty much do everything ourselves. However, whenever any of our kids are here are available we certainly press them into service. As Sean is the only one left at home I suspect she stays heeavily involved with her theatre, improv and violin troupe so she can avoid resort work. Caitlin was home over this weekend and she helped me prepare two cottages for the Easter weekend arrivals.
So Mia has been introduced to the routine of our weekdays. We do host guest pets but we don't let our dogs in the cottages so we can be sure they are fully clean for any arrivals. Mia went through a bit of an indoctrination and training around this rule. She has become attached to Cathie and I and would of course follow us into any cottage we went into. It took us a few days but she is now figuring out that she can stay out on the deck of the cottage we are working in. She now sits or lays there awaiting us to come back out at which points she follows us to our next task.
Here you see Mia patiently sitting outside Morning Glory's door. As this cottage is about 900 square foot 3-bedroom it takes us a few hours to get everything done so she ended up moving out to the sunny part of the deck and laying down for an nap. We are trying to figure out how to teach M&M to do some housekeeping but I suspect that is a long shot.
Maya has experienced this routine since she was a pup so she has h
er preferences. She doesn't bother to hang out with us as she doesn't care for the noise of the vacuum and besides it is pretty boring stuff watching us work. What she does like to do is lay in a sunny spot in the middle of our parking area where she can keep an eye on our activity while watching our entrance driveway in case anyone should venture in. In this way she alerts us to anyone arriving by car and scares away any loose dogs who might think they have a free pass onto our property. Maya takes her job of protecting our chickens very seriously.
So after a quiet morning with lots of laying around they had lunch and we went for a long walk on the golf course.
